What is dimensional weight?

30 Apr - What is dimensional weight?

Many people are confused what dimensional weight is and why it’s used. Dimensional weight is the volumetric weight that carriers charge customers due to the size of their package.

They do this because they normally charge customers by weight, and when a customer ships a large empty box they would lose money due to loss of space in their trucks, planes and real estate.

The way dimensional weight is calculated is by multiplying the length, width, height, and then divide using the dimensional divisor the carrier uses.
